PRONOUNCING FRENCH VOWELS

French pronunciation is the most difficult aspect of learning French for many students, particularly English speakers. It takes a lot of practice to pronounce French correctly, but if you really want to speak French, good pronunciation is essential.

French vowels are known as 'pure', which means that they are composed of one pitch at one location of articulation. English vowels often have two pitches; the vowel starts somewhere and slides to another point of articulation.

It is sometimes hard to retrain yourself not to dipthong if you are an English speaker. Think about cutting off the vowels you pronounce in mid-vowel.
